About Currency declaration..

If I plan to carry more money than what the customs would allow into China---I know I would have to declare. But what I don't know is--will there be any problem bringing so much extra and what happens to these extra cash?do they restrict tourist bringing extra money into China?will the customs confiscate it from me ?or do they take it away first and return to me upon arrival or what?

If you take so much extra money, the custom probably confiscate 20% of your extra part.
