About:Hong Kong Travel

Hi, MTR system for 5 compared to taxi, which one is better in term of value for money.

We will be going to HK end of this nov 2012, in a group of 3 adult, 2 kids age 7 and 3.
Is it worth travelling around the HK using MTR system with 5 octopus card used per trip or, is it better for us to take one taxi ?
Any affordable middle end shopping area that you can suggest, (not the wholesale type)
We will be in HK for 5 days.and plan to stay in Regal Pacific Hotel. Thanks for the advice.

Hi, it seems that a taxi is more convenient for traveling, just waving for a stop and heading for a certain destination. However, the octopus card is suggested because it can be used on transportation, retailing stores, parking, self-service, leisure facilities and access control and other places, displaying the '∞' octopus logo, particularly discount on these acesses. Furthermore, you would stay in Hong Kong for 5 days and the taxi fare certainly would be a large part of your costs.
Since your hotel is not far from Tsim Sha Tsui, a famous shopping center of Hong Kong, it is good to have a try there.
