how to get from Jinjiang Inn 3 Yinsi Lu to panda breeding and research place

I am confused as there are 2 panda places, one close to the city and one at Bifengxia. I want to go to the one which is close to the city - what is the best way to get there from my hotel

From the hotel, you can take a taxi to Xinnanmen Tourism Coach Center, then take bus 902 there to the panda center.

Candy, my hotel is north of the city as is the Panda research city, makes no sense to go south over the river to that bus station in order to catch a bus to the north. Someone told me the 902 bus goes to Bifengxia which is NOT where I want to go. I want to go to the research centre which is less than 10Km from the city, 30 minutes drive compared with more than 1 hour to Bifengxia.

Hi, Cheryl, bus 902 does not travel to Bifengxia. It can take you to Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center which is located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu. Taxi may be also a good option for you to take to the panda center.

thanks Candy, I took a taxi this morning cost 36Rmb and then to return at lunch time the taxis waiting at the gate wanted to charge me 80Rmb so I got out and would not take a taxi until they agreed to use the meter - cost 47 coming back, slightly more traffic. So foreigners be careful of dishonest taxi drivers. The Panda place is fantastic, I got lots of good photos but you must go early to see them before it gets too hot and they go inside, be there by 9am at the latest and you can see them having bamboo breakfast. You can get an English map at the customer service centre inside the gate and there is a cafe with English menu makes good western food and the best real cappucino coffee I have had in China (after 18 months).
