About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

I am thinking about moving to China to live with my partner for a period of six months.

Is it possible to get a visa for this length of stay ?
If so what is needed to apply and are there any restrictions?

Your partner? is he/she a Chinese? a single entry China visa allows 30 days stay in China, but you can get it extended twice in China, with 30 days each. If you want to stay for 6 months, you can try to apply for a double entry or multiple entry visa.
