If you are in US now, you need to prepare a single/non-marital status certificate. Procedure is to get affidavit of Single Status, signed before a notary public; then, get it certified by the Secretary of the State Office of the state where the document is executed; at last, get it certified by the Consulate General which holds consular jurisdiction over your area of residence.
With single status certificate and Birth certificate, you can enter China again with an L visa, and get your marriage registered at Civil Affairs Bureau of your girl's hometown with her Household registration book (hukou). After getting married in China, you can extend your L visa to a longer term family visit visa at local PSB.

The problem, Bill, is that you are still married, abandoned your wife that has been ill with pancreatic cancer, and think that you can walk out free and clear. I hope your Chinese fiance has better sense than your previous 3 wives!

I am married to Chinese and living in Shanghai too. Marrying Chinese doesn't means that you will get a perm ant stay in China that fast you can get 1 year visa for 30 days each stay or 6 months visa with 1 or 2 entries and you can renew this visa 2 times in china and after that you must go back to the USA to get a visa again this is pretty crazy like but this is Chinese policy we respect it . but if you can get work here in china then its not a problem your company can get you temporary ID that has no limitations of entries for 1 year or 2 .
Good luck
