You can renew your Malaysian Passport in person at the Consulate General of Malaysia, Shanghai
(Visa Section) at Unit 04, Block B-9th Floor, Dawning Centre, No. 500 Hongbaoshi Road, Changning District 201103, Shanghai

Their Office Hours : Monday-Friday 9.00 am - 12.15 pm & 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm
Processing of passport renewal may takes up to 3 months as it will be submitted to Immigration HQ in Putrajaya. But you can do it at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Hong Kong because it takes 1-2 days only.
