For general L visa to China, you can extend it twice in China. But most likely with 30 days each. So, here I suggest to apply for a family visit visa L to visit your husband. That is what you mentioned that you can get 6 months L visa to enter China. Then, get it extended at Wuhan, it is possible for another 6 months. For the visa application itself, you need to provide copies of your husband's passport, his residence permit and X visa in China, invitation letter from him, your marriage certificate. Basic documents needed are your passport, application form and photo.

thanx for the reply......the requirements for L-visa application u mentioned are the same as told to me by chineese consulate.........my question is that once i reach in Wuhan on L-visa, then after six months how much extension would i be given? I dont want one month extension, i want to stay longer (about six more months or longer), as i have mentioned earlier...........so is it possible that my L-visa would be extended for six or more months in Wuhan?

you can simply provide your valid passport and visa, 2 pieces of passport photos, Temporary Residence permit, and a bank account as a proof for further stay. The extension procedure take 5 working days.

According to the visa regulation, you can not work on any type of visa except work visa (Z). But I know someone who works part-time job on F or X visa.

It's hard to sya whether you can find a part-time job in Wuhan. The talent market in China has been in excess of the demand for long. If you can find a job in a state-owned or state-controlled enterprise, then it's possible for you to change your L visa to Z visa.
