Tightened requirement for tourist visa since May 2012 ?

Our family ( in Toronto ) is going back to Hong Kong in August and from to join our extended families ( in HK ) to a china tour offered by one of the HK travel agencies. I am concerned about when we apply for our tourist visa here, we may have difficulties showing the newly required support documenuts regarding hotel and air ticktet reservation. At this moment I only bought the return air tickets from Toronto to Hong Kong.

Sometimes, hotel booking is not so necessary for a China visa application, while the return air ticket is more imprtant. If you will take part in a China tour by a Hk travel agency, you may ask the agency to provide you an invitation letter or something similar (you may contact the China consulate in Toronto for exact info.) as supportive documents for your China visa application.
