got my residence permit with visa x, now what?

Question

I just got my permit to stay as a student a couple of days ago.  Do I have to re-register with the police even if I will only be here for one more month?  Are there any penalties whenever I decide to leave the country, if I don't?Originally I got the visa X thinking I was going to stay longer than 6 months but I'm not anymore.

Hi, Marco, you do not have to re-register. The resident permit do permit you staying longer than 6 months, but this does not mean that you have to stay longer than 6 months. There would not be any probelm if you leave at any time within the permitted duration time, and you do not need to do any re-registration work.
