Applying for Chinese tourist visa outside my country

Can I still apply for a Chinese tourist visa at an embassy in a country outside my country of origin? Or have the laws changed?

Hi, Lou, different countries have different visa application rules towards third country citizens, so to better answer your question, could you please let me know which country is your nationality country and which country is the country where you want to apply a visa?

If you want to apply for China visa in France, you are required to provide the original and copy of valid residence permit in France. If not, Chinese embassy or consulate may not accept your application.

Thankyou, but I am only travelling through France and these other countries for 1-2 weeks each. My country of residence is Australia and I left there to travel 6 months ago. But I have to apply for Chinese tourist visa within 3 months of intended entry. So it is not possible for me to visit China?

An option for you is to have a short visit to HK before entering mianland China. To apply for a China tourist visa through Office of the Commissioner of China Foreign Affairs in HK SAR. Visa processing takes 4 working days and shorter if you use rush service.
