Train travel from Hong kong to Beijing and Shanghai to Hong Kong

I am planning to be in Hong Kong in July and have a tour to China. we intend to travel by train to Beijing and our trip ends in Shanghai and want to come to Hong Kong by train. Kindly advise me about Customs & Immigration when on train and also availabilty of tickets. Will it be safe to book the tickets in Hong Kong or before hand.

You need to apply for a single entry China tourist visa in advance. In order to get visa, the return tickets are required. So, you need to book tickets between Cambodia and HK. Train tickets from HK to Beijing and domestic train from Beijing to Shanghai are not necessary to book before trip. Generally, it is easy to book if you need.
