French Passport - double transit in China

I hold a French passport and I will travel from Paris to Melbourne via Shanghai and Bejing. Do i need a transit visa or is there some special requirement? Thank you

If you are travelling on connected international flights with confirmed seats and transit through two cities in China by civil flights within no more than 24 hours, you do not need to apply for a transit visa. However, permission from the frontier inspection office must be obtained during the first stopover in Shanghai.
