My Chinese friend wants me to visit him and stay with his family for 6 mos.

My friend is a full blooded Chinese,and he wants me to visit him and stay with his family for 6 mos.,I want to go to Guang Zhou this June so,I will be celebrating Christmas with my family,What are the things I need to accomplish? Thanks
