Married to Chinese Lady - Would like to obtain residence in China

I am married to a lady from China. I work abroad and go to China on the 6 monthly 2 entry visa normally. My wife is currently staying withme in Singapore as I have a 7 month assignment there. We have bought a apartment in China and are investing money there. I would like to obtain a longer visa - resident visa - How do I go about doing this.
