About:Mutianyu Great Wall Travel Review

Family with Baby -Great Wall around May Day holidays?

We are a couple with 2 children, ages 7 and 9 and a baby 7 months and would like to visit the Great Wall. We arrive in Beijing on the 28th. Which section do you recommend and should we book a hotel near that section rather than in Beijing for the day we visit the Wall. Not afraid of crowds, but could be overwhelming with a baby.

I think you could visit Badaling Great Wall, and book the nearby Commune by the Great Wall or the the Great Wall Courtyard Hostel.

My family and I, 22 month old baby have just returned to Shanghai from Beijing.
we also done the GR8 wall and found it to be the best trip ever.
Beijing it self how ever was not so good.
Polution was so bad we came back to our home in Shanghai early.
We visited the Jia Yu Guan area and although it is a little out of the way it is an area that you can see just
what the wall is all about.
As for the children, perhaps you could take it in turns with your husband and enjoy some of the wall.
Your husband has to walk on the wall because it is said that if you do not then you are not a man, so my wife tells me.
there is a stone with the markings that tell of this.
You will see it.
Hotels close bye, not sure but my wife tells me it is not recomended.
Do not stay at the hostel !!!
Good luck and enjoy your visit.
p/s my wife is from Shanghai China
