1 year left on British Passport

I am starting the process of applying for a Z visa. I am moving to China in August to work. My employers in China are sending me the invitation letters from the relevant government departments. However, my passport is only valid until April of next year, 2013. Do I need to get a new one? If so, will this render my Cambodian visa invalid if it is still on the old passport? I am frequent traveller so i still need my multiple entry for Cambodia until I move to China. Thanks

May I know the validity of your work contract with your Chinese employer? If you renew your passport, your present visa on your present passport will be invalid, but I'm not sure whether you can still enter Cambodia with both your new passport and old passport with the visa. You'd better enquire the local immigration office of Cambodia about this.

It is an international school in China supported by the government. Is 1 year acceptable or should I have at least 3 years on my passport? If not, then I will have no Cambodian visa problem. Thanks

What I mean is the duration of your contract with the school, one year, two years or even longer? If you will just work for the Chinese school for less than a year, no need to renew your passport. However, if you have signed to work in the school for a year or longer, you will have to renew your passport first, or your visa application will be rejected. Even if your Cambodian visa became in valid, you may apply for another one from the Cambodia embassy in China.

Now, you don't need to renew your passport if you want the multiple entry Cambodian visa on your present passport to be valid. You use the present passport to apply for a work visa and then enter China, you have to apply for a 1 year residence permit within 30 days after entry. You have to renew your passport in Feb, 2013, two months before the expiry date of your passport.
