Question

Has anyone travelled this route and how did you do it ? Did you take the night trains and how much time did you spend at each of these places. Please let me know so I can plan my very exciting trip to China. ThanksI have six days in Beijing and I just need help with time at the other places.

Yes, you can take the night train from Beijing to Datong, then take train from Datong to Pingyao. From Pingyao to Xian, you can either take train or bus. But you'd better fly from Xian to Guilin since there is a long-distance between them. In my opinion, 3-4 days are enough to visit Beijing. 2 days are OK to visit Datong. 1 day is enough to visit Pngyao. You can spend 2-3 days in Xian. Well, 2-3 days are also OK in Guilin.
