Yo may just apply for a China L tourist visa from the China Embassy or Consulate in your resident place with the following documents:
1. Your original passport that is valid for at least another 6 months with at least one blank visa page and a photocopy of the passport's information/photo page.
2. visa application form that should be truthfully completed and signed and affixed with one passport-size color photo.
3. photocopy of proof of U.S. residency, work or study, proof of residency in the consular district.
4. Previous Chinese Visa if any
5. round-way air ticket
The process regualrly takes 4 working days from the day of the submission.
