Bottle of whine

Hey,
We're backpacking China with light backpacks (13kg).
I am carrying a bottle of whine with me. It's 750ml white whine.
How can I take it with? Do I really have to check it in as checked baggage or can I take it as carry-on baggage?
If I have to check it in, how long before the train goes do I have to be at the station? I am goint from Beijing to Xi'an tomorrow.
