You are right that China Embassy in Sri Lanka doesn't issue tourist visa to individual applicant. You must take part in a China tour group (over 5 members) and then apply for the visa as a group.

Malaka its not easy to get single entry visa for china but if its like me your married in sri lanka to your chinese wife then its very easy to get a visa for 1 year . I got for 1 year but only 30 days duration but I extended it from the PSB shanghai exit & entry department for 6 months longer stay its easy only if your married thats the prove . Or else you have to go with 5 members but still that you can meet your girlfriend as your visa is not issued to the passport .
