About:Mid-Autumn Festival

Travel from Shanghai to Hangzhou in September

I would like to catch a bullet train from Shanghai (Honqiao station) to Hangzhou on Saturday or Sunday September 22 or 23 to Hangzhou. Will there be big crowds catching trains at this time of the year being close to Golden Week (and on a Saturday)? Also will the metro be crowded catching a metro train on a Saturday or Sunday morning?

Should I try and book bullet train tickets in advance?

Any information is appreciated Regards Andrew

Autumn (Sep. to Nov.) is the tourist season of Hangzhou, but from late August to the end of September, typhoons often occur, accompanied with heavy wind and rain. During this period, you should bring an umbrella with you.

The trains are always crowded no matter during or close to the festivals or not. You'd better book the train tickets in advance.
