Transit Guangzhou

I am travelling through Guangzhou airport from New Zealand to London. The transit time on the way back is 7 hours. Can I go outside the airport or do I need a visa? (1 x New Zealand passport (me) and 1 x British passport (friend)). Thanks.

If you want to go out of the airport, you must apply for a China transit visa in advance, or apply for a 24-hour stay permit at Guangzhou airport.

Stay permit issued at Guangzhou
Hi, thanks for replying to my last question. If I want to apply for a stay permit on arrival for my 7 hour transit so that I can leave the airport in Guangzhou, how much is it? And how long does it usually take for the officials to issue this stay permit?

Not sure the cost for applying for a stay permit, but it won't take long and only requires the passport and air ticket to the final destination for the application.

Hello
Just wondering whether you did leave the airport and whether you encountered any difficulties.
I have a 7 hr transit on my way to ALK and I'm travelling with a toddler so want to go to the airport hotel.

Thanks
