Visa application without air ticket

Hi, I am planning to visit china in may and does not have my ticket booked yet, is it okay to apply for visa first?
What documents will I need, is it jut passport and the form? Are there any travel agent or representative on Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to process visa application? Thanks

The round-way air ticket seems necessary for the visa application, since the visa officers usually approve the duration on the visa according to this. The required ducuments Your original apssport, a filled China visa application form stuck with a passport size photo and the two-way air ticket.

There should be visa agents or travel agencies in Saskatchewan who can apply for the visa for you, but no published information about this on the official website of the Chinese consulate.
