Is Transit G visa required?

Hi, I am an Australian, could you please advise if I would need to get a transit G visa to China if I have a flight from Moscow to Sydney with a first layover in Beijing for 9 hours and then a layover in Shanghai for 2.5 hours.
Thank you

You don't need a transit G visa for the two stopovers in Beijing and Shanghai, but you need to apply for a 24 hours stay permit when you arrive in Beijing airport by showing the flight tickets and valid passport.
