Does your son share the same filipino passport with you? If yes, you may just prepare the original passport, adequate funds for your duration in Hk without working, round-way air tickets.

Hi Emma, many thanks for your response. I do not share the same passport with him, he has his own plus the surname he's using is of his father's. We won't actually be going back to Philippines from HK as we will go straight to Bali afterwards.

Philippines passport holders are exempt from a visa to Hong Kong for up to 14 days, you and your son don't need to worry about the Hong Kong visa, as Emma replied, prepare passports, adequate fund, the flight tickets from Philippines to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Bali (the ticket can prove how many days you will stay in Hong Kong)

Thanks for your reply Alex. I am actually aware that we do not need a visa to enter HK, m concern is that he is an illegitimate child using the surname of his father, which is different from my surname. I am wondering whether I need o obtain an authenticated consent letter from his father + letter from different government organizations from my country (orgs that protect children), etc. Many thanks!

Yes, you need to get a duly-notarized Parental Travel Permit from his father (in a form prescribed by Department of Social Welfare and Development) certifying that his father is allowing the minor to travel with you.

You also need to provide the birth certificate of the child, the passports photocopy of you and his father.

Thanks a lot Jade, I actually went to the website of DSWD and it says there that if the child is travelling with his mother then she wouldn't need to obtain a consent letter since the sole parental authority is on her. However, if it's the other way around, then the father will have to obtain the letter from me.

bring the NSO birth certificate to avoid hassle with philippine immigration, considering that it is first time for the child to travel ,
