Nanjing to Huangshan?

1. By Train or Bus? Where to take and the best times? I heard there is a 4 hour bus to Tuxi which is nearer the mt?
2. Since I will have some luggage and depending on the time I arrive in Huangshan, would it be wise to check into a hotel in the city, stay one night and then head up to the moutain and stay 1 night up there. This would mean I would one night leaving my luggage in the city?
3. I aim to go end of this month, late Feb, early March, probably over the weekend, would this be a problem?
4. For the hiking etc, what type of footwear is recommended? Should I buy special hiking boots or just my trainers is sufficient?
5. From Huangshan to Xian, what is the best way?
Thanks a lot,
M

1. You are right that there is a bus from Nanjing Zhongyangmen Bus Station to Tunxi daily, and the duration is 4-5 hours. On arrival at Tunxi Bus Station, there are direct bus to the Mountain.
2. Yes, I agree that you stay in the city for one night first in order that you have enough strength and energy to climb up the Mountain. You can store your luggage at the hotel when you travel to the mountain. Just remember to take your travel certificates, money and other important things with you.
3. It is still a little bit cold in early March both in Huangshan and Nanjing, but it doesn't matter if you make a good preparation.
4. The mountain is rather steep and high, so you'd better wear a pair of light sports shoes with projections on the soles.
5. There is no direct train between them, and it takes around 18 hours by bus. So the best way is to take a flight.
