About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

I migrated to Australia from Hong Kong before 1997, was I ever considered a national of china?

Refer to Q 1.3 and 1.7 on the visa application form V2011A - I migrated to Australia while Hong Kong was still a British colony, what was my previous nationality (Q 1.7)? Was I ever considered a national of China (Q 1.3)? If so, I have to provide my name in chinese characters. I've never had a chinese passport.
