Problems with F visa for student

Hi, today I applied for a short-stay (less than six months) student visa (F-visa), to study in Shanghai arriving on the 11th of February. With the F-visa I can only get a single entry.

The problem: I already bought a return ticket Shanghai-Hong Kong (11/02/12-18/02/12) for the very same day of my arrival. And, technically, HK is like going abroad, thus my visa would expire immediately.

The question is: has anyone faced this problem before? did he/she manage to get an exemption and was allowed to fly back and forth without getting the stamp at the first arrival to Shanghai, thus not getting his/her visa cancelled?

thank you for any help

Andrea, it is impossible for you to get an exemption and was allowed to fly back and forth without getting the stamp at the first arrival to Shanghai. Now, the problem can be solved in this way,
1. cancel the ticket Shanghai-Hong Kong (11/02/12-18/02/12), stay in Shanghai till the end of the study
or 2. fly to Hong Kong from Shanghai, you have to obtain a F visa again in Hong Kong, then you can return to Shanghai for the study, however, it is complex to do so because the school has to send your admission letter and JW202/JW201 again for your application in Hong Kong.

Dear Jacob,

thank you for your help and your kind reply. I cancelled the ticket as I don't want to take any risks; further it is not possible now to have another invitation form sent from the University to HK anyway.

best,
Andrea
