Australian seeking China visa

We are flying into China in June for a 3 week holiday. We would like to go over to Hong Kong and leave our suitcases with friends and then return to Southern China. We would then have to get our suitcases and fly out of Guangzhou. As we are leaving in March for Europe we wanted to get a 6 months visa so that we do not have to get it in France which would be difficult as we do not speak French. Can anyone suggest what could be a solution. Also we do not have an itinerary as we want to leave our trip open so that we can stay in places we like longer, rather than rush our trip. But the visa requires all the details.

According to your travel plane, Australia - Hong Kong (leave suitcases) - Southern China - Hong Kong (get suitcases) - Guangzhou - leave China, you need a 6 months validity double entry tourist visa. For tourist visa application in Australia, applicants should provide with tour itinerary or flight and hotel booking confirmation, if the itinerary is not available, you can provide the flight and hotel booking confirmation.

If the application is denied in Australia, you can go to Hong Kong to try to apply for a double entry tourist visa to China.

Thanks Vikki. But we are coming into Guangzhou by plane, catching a train to Honk Kong, train back to mainland China for about 17 days then back to Hong Kong to get our bags. So we have to enter 3 times into mainland China. Must we have been in China in the last 6 months to get our 6 months visa. Or is there a place that we can store our luggage in Guangzhou safely?

You need to apply for a 6 months multiple-entry visa for your trip. You have to obtain the visa in Australia, then you don't need to get it in France. Please apply for China visa in February. You don't need to stay in China for 6 months to get a 6 months visa.

The multiple entry visa is valid for 6 months or 12 months, during its validity, you can enter and exit Mainland China for many times. 6 months is not the stay duration. It just refers that you shall enter China no later than 6 months from the date of issue, otherwise the visa will be expired and is null and void. The stay duration is counted from the date of entry, normally a tourist visa permits 30 days stay duration per entry. You mistake the stay duration and validity.
