About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Residence Permit and Employment permit-Z Visa

Hi! I just obtained my Z visa issued from my home country (Philippines) but prior to the said application,my employer provided me the necessary requirements which includes employment license and confirmation letter of invitation etc. Now, i just arrived in China 2 days ago. I believe I need to apply for a residence permit and employment permit.

My questions are:

1. which should I apply first, is it the residence permit or the employment permit?

2. My employment license was issued last July 26, 2011 and I believe it has 6 months validity. My problem is, our Hr is on a holiday vacation already and I heard that Chinese New Year government holiday will be starting on the 19th of January. I was told that our Hr will resume to work on the 30th of January, still with in my 30 days upon arrival in China since i just arrived 2 days from now. Now, is there any problem if my employment license will expire on the 26th of January and my Hr will start processing my residence permit and employment permit on the 20th of January?

3. Is it easy to apply for a residence permit and how long does it take?

4. What are the fees?

5. Since i have 2 more days to go, can I apply it by myself or it should really be my HR.

6. What are the complete requirements?

Thank you very much! Your response will be highly appreciated. Happy New Year!

This site is really very helpful to foreigners. Thank you very much. This is in line with my previous inquiry. I am currently holding a Z Visa. I just arrived last January 15, 2012. My employment license will expire on January 26, 2012 and our HR will arrive on the 30th of January. I know I have to apply for the residence permit and employment permit with in 30 days upon my arrival. My questions are:

1. I applied for an employment permit by myself this morning and I was given an acknowledgement receipt. The officer told me that since it is the first time for my company to hire a foreigner, it would take days as they still need to verify some information. My question is, how long does it usually take since I am running out of time due to the upcoming New Year holiday? and what is their usual process for this?

2.Since I already went to the local PSB,should my company still needs to renew my employment license since it will expire on the 26th of January, in time for the holiday season. How long is the processing time to renew or somehow extend my employment license?

3. Is it required to renew my employment license since I already reported prior to expiration and is it still needed when I apply for the residence permit?

4. After going at the local PSB,are they going to issue an Employment permit already or it is just some sort of clearance then I need to go to the Ministry of Labour to get the so-called employment permit then proceed to PSB to apply for a residence permit.

5. Is the Foreign Experts Certificate the same as the Employment Permit? If not, what is the difference?

6. If I need to get another employment license since it will expire on the 26th of January, do I still have enough time to process all of these? If not, what do I have to do, can my company extend my Z visa? while I am waiting for the other documents?

Thank you very much!

1. you should apply first employment permit, then residence permit
2. it's true that you have to apply employment permit and residence permit within 30 days arrivel in China. Your employment license expires on January 26, 2012, it is ok for your HR to start the process of application on January 30 (you said HR resumes to work on January 30). The government office will be closed from January 22 to January 28 for Spring Festival. The time is pressing for your application.
3. it is easy to apply for a residence permit, it takes about 1 week, sometimes, it takes 2 weeks.
4. it costs 400RMB per person
5. you can apply employment permit and residence permt by yourself, but maybe some documents are in the hand of HR, you can prepare all requirements.
6. the requirements are
your passport and photocopis
your Z visa copy on your passport
the employment license and its copy

1. Usually it takes 1 week for processing, however, because you are the first foreign employee in your company, it takes a longer time (maybe three weeks because of one week spring festival) to verify the information of your company.

2. your company doesn't need to renew your employment license or extend employment license, the license is just used for work visa application, now you have obtained a work visa to enter China, just wait for the issuance of employment permit.

3. there is no need to renew your employment license when you apply for residence permit

4. you need to go to the Ministry of Labour to get the so-called employment permit then proceed to PSB to apply for a residence permit.

5. Foreign Experts Certificate is as same as the Employment Permit, the Foreign Experts Certificate is issued to Foreigners who come to China to take up employment as experts, scholars, teachers, managerial personnel and as personnel working in related state or local organizations

The Employment Permit is issued to Foreigners who come to China to take up other employments.

6. now, your company should apply for your employment permit and residence permit as soon as possible, however, HR of your company can't provide help to you, on the other hand, on the occasion of Spring Festival, the staff of PSB can't pay attention to their work. It is really not a good time for you to handle the two documents.
