You should apply for business visa (F visa) to study Chinese language course for 5 months. You need to submit the following documents:
1. your Vietnamese passport and photocopy of its data pages
2. one passport photo
3. filled in visa application form V.2011A (if you are Vietnamese and apply for China F visa in Vietnam)
4. the admission letter
5. Form JW-201 or Form JW-202, original and copy

You should choose 1 entry valid for 3 months from application, you just need a 3 months single entry F visa with 5 months stay duration in China.

you can fill in Section 2.4 Your longest intended stay among all entries of your intended visits in China 155 (at least 5 months) Days

The stay duration is counted from the date of entry, the validity is counted from the date of issuance. For example, your single entry F visa is issued March 1, 2012, the last date for you to enter China is June 1, 2012, the validity refers to the period from March 1, 2012 to June 1, 2012 (3 months), if you enter China on March 20, 2012, you can still in China for 155 days counted from the date of entry.

Hoa Vo, you mistake the validity and stay duration of China visa,
One entry valid for 3 months from application just refers to that the visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance, you shall enter China no later than 3 months from the date of issue, otherwise the visa will be expired and is null and void. The 3 months doesn't refer to the stay duration of China visa.

You just want to stay in China for 5 months, it is your longest intended stay among all entries of your intended visits in China.
