How frequent is the train from Shanghai to Hangzhou? Do I need to pre-purchase tickets in advance?

There is a bullet or high speed trains every a few minutes. no more than 20 minutes in peak hours. No need to pre-purchade ticket.

yes you need to pre purchase because a lot of chinese travel.
