I don’t mind to change trains if the trip is fastest, or if I have to travel to another city to catch a fast train.

Hello, there are direct trains operating from Nanjing to Wudangshan and Wudangshan to Shanghai. But both train journey takes around 20hrs. For faster way, you could choose to make a transfer at Wuhan. Bullet trains are operating to from Nanjing to Wuhan. Back to Shanghai, you can take a train or bus to Xiangyang first and then take a flight.
