Bottom line. Dont book with SAA. They are incompetent. I booked flights to taipei via hong kong all the way to them accepting my payment, but when it came to issuing e ticket they tell me the inter connecting flight i chose( from there website) is not one of their partners. So I am sure tht SAA would not knw what is going n when they asked u for a visa first. They cannot even get their website right. False advertising if you ask me.

It's true that South Africa passport holders are exempt from a visa to Hong Kong for up to 30 days. I think that the South Africa Airline Company is not familiar with the visa rule, I don't hear that a person can't buy a flight ticket without a visa to the destination country. Please check it again with the airline.
