Residents of South Australia need to go to Embassy of China in Canberra to renew the passport (add: 15 Coronation Drive, Yarralumla, ACT2600, Canberra). The passport things should be dealt by the consular office there. The embassy will be closed on December 26, 27 for Christmas Day. December 25 is Sunday and it will also be closed.
You need to submit the following documents to renew your current passport: China passport application form; your current passport and photocopy of its data page; copy of your australian visa; 3 recent passport photos; self-addressed stamped envelope; other deemed necessary documents by the embassy.
It takes AUD75 if your passport does not expire and AUD140 if it expires. It seems you also need to pay AUD10 for the postal back service.
It takes 4 weeks to issue the new passport.
