About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Am on a cruise that visits Hong Kong Overnight/Shanghai 1day do I need to apply for tourist visa?

Am an Australian citizen holding an Australian PP.

Yes, you need to apply for a China tourist visa to Shanghai for 1 day. You don't need a visa to Hong Kong.
