About:Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station

The most convenient way Travelling from Shanghai to Hangzhou

Hi Hi,

I like to find out which is the most convenient way to travel from Shanghai to Hangzhou.
We are going in mid dec 2011. Possible to highlight to us some attractions to visit.

Kindly also advise if we can book our tickets in advance for travel from Shanghai to Hangzhou

You can book your tickets in advance online for travelling from Shanghai to Hangzhou. Well, I think you have no need to do so. There are many high speed trains running daily from Shanghai to Hangzhou. It is OK for you to buy the tickets upon your arrival at the train station.

Which station would you advise us to alight at for Hangzhou? What are some of the must see places to visit in Hangzhou during dec? What is the average temperature like?

You should take a train to get to Hangzhou Railway Station in downtown area, from where you could star the trip as soon as arrival. The must see in Hangzhou includes the West Lake, Lingyin Temple, Qinghefang Ancient Street and the Six Harmonies Pagoda. In Dec, the average tempeture keeps around 7C so you should prepare thermal clothes.
