Do i need a transit visa to China?

I've got a layover in shanghai for 19 hours, do I need a transit visa? I'm from the UK. Can I stay for 24 hours, but have to stay in the airport or can I go outside? thanks

You don't need a transit visa. You can go out of the airport to visit the City.
