can my family join me on z visa

Good morning sir,I am here as Doctoral student, I want my family to join me. At the same time I want my wife to apply for study later. Can she be given Z visa and will she be able to change it to X-visa?

Your wife can't get a Z visa because you study in China as a doctoral student. If you work in China, your wife can apply for Z visa as accompanying family members. Even though she obtains a Z visa to China, she can't change it to X visa.
