About:Packing Tips for Traveling China

What clothes and shoes do you recommend to visit Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai in March 2012?

In March of 2012 I will be taking a tour which includes Beijing, X'ian and Sanghai. I understand it is cold and rainy and we are limited to 44 pounds. I travel a great deal, but usually not in winter, with limited amount of clothing. Do you recommend silk undergarments for warmth and lightness? Also, what are the best types of shoes to take for walking comfort and light weight?

I am living Beijing and wen to Beijing and Shanghai in early March. Shanghai is probably to rain. Beijing is windy, with sands perhaps. I wear a thin long-sleeve T-shirt and a woolen coat. Two layers of trousers, not necessary to wear thermal underwear, just ordinary thin one. As to shoes, sneakers, leather boots all okay. No need to wear winter shoes. For your reference.
