If you don't leave the airport transit area and the whole transit will be done within 24 hours, you won't need a visa.
But the flight between Beijing and Guangzhou will be a domestic one. In this case, you may leave the transit area. You'd better confirm with your airline company.
If you indeed need a visa to transit in China, you can either apply for a China transit visa in advance or obtain a transit stamp at the airport upon arrival.

Adam, a transit visa is not required, however, you need to apply for a 24 hours stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive in Beijing Capital International Airport by showing your flight tickets.
