Advance application for a China visa

Can I apply a Chinese visa in advance? Lets say I will apply this December 2011 but I will be going to use it or I will be travelling sometime October or November 2012? Hope to hear from you. Thanks! -ANA

The China visa has a period of validity once issued. For instance, a single-entry visa is usually valid for three months, starting from the issuing date. If you are going to apply the visa right now but travel to Chian next year in October or november, I'm afraid the visa will be invalid by then. You'd better apply for it one or two months in advance.
