The Great Wall was built to protect people with it against the attack from the northern tribes and enemies8

The Great Wall was built so that China's enemies would have a harder time breaking in from the northern border. It was also built to deliver messages. For example, the beacons were lighted on fire if any enemy was seen near by.15
