How can I get a Family Visit Visa/Residence Permit for China?

Hello,

I am an Australian Citizen, my boyfriend is a Chinese citizen with Chinese passport. We have been living together in Australia in a DeFacto relationship (spouse but not married) for 4 years.
We are planning to get married in about two months, both here in Australia and in China.
We are planning to move and live in China in a couple of months.

We are thinking of getting a general L (Tourist Visa) for me to go to China, and when we arrive in China, apply for Family Visit Visa/Residence Permit. Are we able to do this so that I can stay in China for one year, and renew the Family Visit Visa/Residence Permit to stay another year and so forth?

Thank you very much.

Yes, you can enter China with a general L visa. After getting your marriage registration in China, you can apply for a family visit visa/residence permit at PSB in the city where your husband registerd his Hukou. This visa or permit also can be extended in China before expiration every year.
