Shanghai, Nanjing Road Shopping street on China National Day

Hi, we are from Singapore and will be going to Shanghai from 30 Sep to 3 Oct for a short holiday. I just got to know that 1st Oct will be the China National Day. Will the shopping street at Nanjing road be very crowded on the National holiday? Will the shops and restaurants be opened? I hope it is not a bad time for us to visit Shanghai. Can you recommend a nice chinese restaurant that cater for hairy crabs? Thanks!

Yes, you are right that the Nanjing Road will be crowded with travellers during the holiday. But, all of the department stores and shops will be opened all the same, so you could enjoy shopping there. If possible, you' d better delay the trip after Oct. 7 when the holiday comes to the ends.

Oct is the best time to enjoy the local hairy crabs. You could find it at any local restaurants. Where will be your location in Shanghai? I'll try to find a nearby restaurant for you.

Our trip to Shanghai from 30Sep to 3Oct has been confirmed and we cannot cancel or change. However, we will be staying at the Le Royal Meridien at Nanjing road east. Can you recommend a nice chinese restaurant for hairy crabs near this area? Also, can you advise how much is the taxi fare from Pudong airport to our hotel? Thanks.

From this hotel, you could walk eastward along the Jiujiang Road to find restaurants for hairy crabs. Firstly, you will find the famous Wang Bao He Restaurant (王宝和大酒店), and then the Cheng Long Hang Xie Wang Fu (成隆行蟹王府). The latter one has featured Chinese decorations.

From Pudong Airport, it will cost you around CNY160 to get to the hotel by taxi.
