Walking/climbing much when visit Tibet?

I have always wanted to go there. But I am having knee surgery (replaced) in September 2011. Is there too much walking on these visits? I plan on going around April/May 2012.

Not too much. In the city center, you can take taxi, further ones, the tour agent would arrange the vehicle. You may have difficulties in some attractions, for example, there are many steps in Potala Palace. You can choose attractions and walk according to your strength.
