About:Visa Policy of China

Is it necessary to register an ordinary tourist visa after entry to China?

The owner of the apartment I'm renting in Beijing is asking us to give up our passports for 24 hours to enable them to register them. I just wanted confirmation that this was normal. Thank you

Yes, it is visa regulation of China that tourist Visa L holders are required to go to the local police station to report and register temporary accommodation within 24 hours after arrival.
