Where is the Suzhou New District located?

Im moving to Suzhou in a few weeks from the US. I am trying to figure out where my work will be. I am going to be teaching at a school in the Suzhou New District. How far is that from the city center? Is there anything to do around there (restaurants, attractions, bars, shopping, etc)?
