How to get a China Visa with more than 90 days stay duration?

I just came back from a 7 months trip to China. I had a Z Visa that's now expired (July 14th). We're setting up an import/export company here in Canada and I'm going to serve as the liaison in China hence I have to be based in China, specifically Shanghai (going in and out from the mainland). I was going to enroll myself in ShangDa to improve my Chinese and get a X visa while at it but we won't be ready for September. Therefore I'll be going to China sometime between October and November. I have no problem getting a F Visa and I have a Canadian passport and a couple of contacts in China. I was wondering if anybody would have an idea or suggestion regarding staying in China for an extend period of time if not a student or English teacher. I don't mind going back and forth every three or four months to HK and I also have a budget allocated for this visa issue since I know there's companies that "sell" Z Visa to foreigners. Anyway, I'm open to all reasonable and borderline legal suggestions.

Thanks

In the first place I was going to go to China in Sept on a F visa then attend school on Sept 13th and the school will provide me with a X visa but now I'm missing the Sept start so if I still wanna do that I have to wait until Feb for the beginning of the second semester. But I'll be in China beginning of November on a F visa which will expire before Feb (3 months). I'm an importer, going to ShangDa was to improve my Chinese and get a long term visa (resident permit) more than anything. We're not setting an office there coz we don't need to but I need to be physically there since I'm the one doing the purchases and I need a way to stay in the country for more than 3 months or at least 3 months (a day in HK and back to mainland). I hope I explained myself well. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Neo, you say you are going to China sometimes between October and November, the X visa will be ready in September, then the problem is solved.

If you enroll yourself in Shanghai University and the study lasts for more than 6 months, you can apply for X visa, if the study lasts for less than 6 months, you can apply for F visa.

if you set up a liaison office in Shanghai, it is easy for you to get a F visa with 3 - 6 months stay duration by showing the business license.

Neo, now I understand your meaning, it is hard for you to get a F visa with 3 months stay duration because you can't provide any document to prove you need to stay in China for business.

I'm afraid that you'd better find a visa agency to help you, then agency can provide the documents for F visa application, but the service fee is high.

Getting a F visa is not the problem here, I can get one through one of my friends who has a company incorporated in China. Now the problem is renewing it or finding a way to stay after those three months since we won't be able to send me an invitation letter every three months. I had a residence permit before so I wonder if that'll make some of the process easier. Would you have any agencies to recommend and around how much is the fee? Thanks for the help.
