Hi there,
The best time to climb the Huanshan is at night for the sheer mountain will scare you a lot if you climb it at day time. Last month I had been there and now I am in Chengdu—my hometown. I began to climb the mountain at 6pm. When I got the East Peak of Huashan, it was 11pm. And I slept at East Peak Hotel which is the only hotel at the East Peak of Huanshan. The condition there is very rough but the fee is very expensive. Even to rent a thick coat will cost you CNY40.
The best place for sunrise is East Peak, too. I had seen it at 5:50am. It was really great!
Don’t bring too many things on you. Just 4 things are enough.
1. The water is needed as you will be exhausted when you are climbing the mountain. The water is still double or triple price than usual. You’d better have 3 bottles for each. (1.5L)
2. Windproof coat. When you wait the sunrise at the East Peak of Huanshan, you will feel extremely cool there.
3. Rain gear.
4. Chocolate and other high calorific food.
The entrance fee of Huanshan is CNY180. CNY100 for students.CNY0 for tour guide…
Have fun!
